It should come as no surprise that food is our favorite art form. For us, the kitchen is more than just a place to prepare food. It’s a space to play, to express ourselves through new flavors and share our edible creations with friends and family. And sometimes, all it takes is a single ingredient, like our one-of-a-kind goat cheese, to get inspired. No fancy tools or techniques required.
Last year, we celebrated our new packaging that reflected our storied history, heritage, and home. This year, we continue to honor those roots while embracing our bold spirit and culinary curiosity to drive us forward.
Beloved By Chefs
One of our very first customers was legendary chef Alice Waters, owner of Chez Panisse restaurant in Berkeley, California and pioneer of the farm-to-table movement. She loved our founder Laura’s cheeses so much, she created a signature menu item: the iconic California goat cheese salad: breaded and baked Laura Chenel goat cheese slices nestled in beds of mesclun greens. Thanks to this relationship and Waters’ popular dish, demand for Laura Chenel soared among both professional chefs and home cooks looking to take their taste buds to the next level. Over 40 years later, our goat cheese continues to grace restaurant menus and dinner tables alike.
Our original goat cheese, the one that put us on the map, remains a chef favorite. Like this vibrant dish:
Chevre & Roasted Eggplant
The bright citrusy tang from the cheese helps balance the tender, earthy eggplant. Garnish with crunchy pistachios, sweet pomegranates, and aromatic mint leaves for a recipe that’s flavorful, filling, and versatile.

Setting the Standard
Our goat cheese is considered some of the world’s finest, but award-winning taste takes work. Our distinct rich and creamy texture and bright flavors are the result of a deep commitment to maintaining the highest quality. We source only the freshest milk from family farms throughout the western U.S. and make regular visits so we can fully understand their processes. We take pride in our long-standing partners because they’re equally passionate about their milk as they are about raising happy goats.
Once we have the best milk, we rely on time and attention to detail. Every step, from setting the curd to draining and aging, is essential to achieving perfect consistency and irresistible flavor. That foundation allows us to create inspired variations, like this classic salad:
Salades de Chèvre Chaude
This French classic is anything but basic. It features warm, melty thyme & rosemary marinated goat cheese toasts atop a bed of crisp lettuce with pickled red onions and crunchy walnuts. Its elegant presentation makes for an impressive meal that’s fresh and oh-so satisfying.

A Catalyst for Creativity
High quality ingredients inspire confidence in the kitchen. We think of our goat cheese as the foundation for culinary exploration. Its tangy brightness and creamy texture invite experimentation, from sweet desserts to rich entrées to seasonal favorites, like this inventive and beautiful tart:
Garlic & Chive Zucchini Tart
This tart is a bright and beautiful showstopper where every ingredient shines. It’s easy to make with layers of whipped Garlic & Chive goat cheese, zucchini ribbons, squash blossoms, and dollops of homemade pesto on a flaky pastry crust. It’s the perfect seasonal dish as we transition from summer to fall.
